SUCCESS
-The Art of Possibility |
A great artist and his friend, visited an exhibition of paintings by another lesser known artist. The great man saw all the paintings and finally chose a painting, depicting a glorious evening sunset, as the best in the collection. His critic friend frowned and remarked that the colour scheme and brush strokes were atrocious, and wondered how he chose it to be the best. The great man simply smiled and remarked, I see great possibilities here.
Well, our lives are full of possibilities. But, most of the time we are blind to them because we are busy in analyzing the impossibilities. The most usual reaction while meeting another person is to look at his weaknesses. Like the critic friend in the above story, we look at what all is wrong with that person, and go to the extent of labeling him or her as selfish, arrogant, cynic and so on. Very rarely we call somebody as resourceful, genius, generous etc. with genuine appreciation.
Success in life is not achieved alone. We ride on so many peoples shoulders before we reach a station in life. Knowingly or unknowingly we also help many others ride to their fame. Such being the case, if every one of us consciously strive to make our rides enjoyable, the possibilities for overall human success gets magnified. If I look at your strengths only, and add my strengths to yours, then, WE become stronger than either of us.
The Japanese have excelled in this art. Their work culture is steeped in creating strong teams through empathy, emulation and empowerment. There is not a bit of suspicion among team members, because they have no time for it they are FOCUSED on the goal of the team. FOCUS is the key. Focus is LOOKING ONLY AT THE POSSIBILITIES for final success. One may make mistakes. But there is no point in wasting time in analyzing it, when something useful for the goal can be performed.
Indians are no less accomplished than the Japanese. Only that every one of us has to learn and consciously practice the art of possibility. When we make a mistake, let us say how fascinating? and go about the task without losing focus. Then we start RADIATING possibilities to others in the team! Causes of our weaknesses automatically get eliminated. Mutual regard among team members increases. Suspicions vanish. Team confidence increases. Live in Radiating Possibilities. Ask always How can I Contribute? Then, success becomes an art of possibilities.
